What to expect from the sequel
SISU 2: Road to Revenge continues the saga of the “man who refuses to die.” Written and directed by Jalmari Helander, the film promises to raise the stakes, explore more of Aatami Korpi’s (Jorma Tommila) past, and deliver even more outrageous set pieces — all while preserving the dry humor and stylized brutality that turned the first Sisu (2023) into a cult phenomenon.
Synopsis
In 1946, Aatami returns to the Karelia region under Soviet occupation, where his family was brutally murdered during the war. Determined to honor their memory, he dismantles his old home and transports it by truck to rebuild it in a safe place. But things change when the Red Army commander responsible for the massacre — Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang) — reappears to finish the job. Their encounter sparks a relentless chase across the country, ending only in death.

Context and expectations
The first Sisu went viral thanks to its creative set pieces, dark humor, and a nearly silent protagonist fighting impossible odds. Now, the sequel shifts the conflict to the post-war period and puts Aatami face-to-face with his family’s executioner, promising intense pursuits, even more brutality, and clever use of the icy landscape — filmed on locations in Estonia.
Helander has promised that the sequel will be “more brutal, more epic, and with more heart.” Expectations are high that SISU 2 will attract both fans of the original and newcomers who enjoy visceral action — similar to the rising popularity of bloody action franchises like Anônimo 2 and John Wick 5.
USA release date: November 21, 2025. Brazil’s release date has not yet been confirmed.
